The problem it solves

Most NFTs today are static and lack meaningful personalization. Users often mint predesigned assets with little to no creative input or ongoing engagement. Token Tails addresses this by allowing users to generate truly unique AI-driven NFT pets, complete with custom appearances, names, and evolving backstories. By combining AI generation, on-chain interactions, and a growth-based progression system, our platform transforms NFTs from static collectibles into dynamic, interactive companions-making each asset a reflection of the owner’s creativity and care. This approach not only improves personalization but also adds long-term engagement and emotional value-elements largely missing in current NFT platforms.

Challenges we ran into

One of the key challenges we encountered was implementing dynamic NFTs on Base. While not overly complex, it required us to ensure that the NFT metadata could update over time especially as pets evolved. We overcame this by referring to Base docs on dynamic NFTs .

Another challenge was the attempt to integrate Base sub-accounts into the platform. since we were already using Coinbase’s OnchainKit , integrating sub-accounts alongside it proved to be technically difficult and incompatible within the project scope. Despite trying different approaches, we concluded that sub-account support wasn’t feasible for this version of the project
