The problem it solves
Absence of Economic Primitives in Stateless Agent Communications
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) successfully standardizes the transport layer for Large Language Model (LLM) agents to access external context. However, the current HTTP/JSON-RPC transport layer lacks a native Economic Settlement Primitive.
This results in three architectural deficiencies:
**Sybil Vulnerability & Resource Exhaustion: **Open endpoints are susceptible to spam and Denial of Service (DoS) by autonomous agents, as there is no economic cost to execution (cost > 0).
Lack of Atomic Value Exchange: Current architectures decouple service delivery from payment (e.g., monthly SaaS subscriptions), which is incompatible with the ephemeral, high-frequency, and transactional nature of AI agent operations.
Protocol-Level Friction: Agents encounter "soft" paywalls (HTML login pages) rather than "hard" protocol-level signals (HTTP 402), preventing autonomous negotiation and payment settlement.
