Why are you participating for Based India?

The Base network is growing rapidly and a lot is happening in the ecosystem. A lot of new users are getting onboarded to actual on-chain web3 through Coinbase and Base. We want our app to be available to all the new users on Base and hence are trying to make parts of the LensView experience available for Base users directly.

What challenges are you focusing on?

People browse the internet alone and without a "compass". LensView provides a sense of direction and awareness about every webpage on the web for safer navigation. Interact with peers as you navigate the internet. Make informed online decisions and stay away from fraud and scams.

We also provide incentives to creators who help others navigate the web safely by enabling p2p tipping functionality among users.

How does your submission address this challenge?

LensView aims to be the hub for reviews and discussions on the web by allowing users to share their thoughts and views about any webpage on the internet with everyone else in the world. By being the “omni-present comment section” of the internet, LensView seeks to start a new paradigm of online discourse which has never been seen before.

• Fact-check news articles on the internet or inform others about misinformation in them.
• Get feedback and reviews about products (by on-chain verified accounts) before purchasing items from any e-commerce website.
• Report phishing websites and also avoid getting scammed by checking the LensView comments for the website.

Unlike other centralized comment sections on e-commerce websites or media outlets, LensView is completely decentralized, permissionless and is cross platform. By verifying the authenticity of comments posted by users through their on-chain activity, LensView seeks to be a source of trusted information about web pages.

Challenges we ran into

We had a hard time trying to figure out how to take advantage of the growing interests in the Base network, in a way that would be meaningful to LensView. We finally came up with the concept of tipping creators in popular meme coins on Base. This would incentivize others to contribute genuine and quality posts to LensView while making a small buck.

With the help of Base network, Lens Protocol and LensView, we aim to create a community of people who engage in meaningful conversations while browsing the internet and are incentivized to help others by sharing their thoughts and views about various webpages.

Additional Features

We have built a tipping module for LensView and have integrated Base network to it. This enables people to tip creators in their favourite meme coins on Base.

This incentivizes people to contribute quality content to LensView and engage in meaningful conversations with others while browsing the internet.
