The problem it solves

Open-source software powers the world, yet most contributors go unpaid and unrecognized. Project maintainers have no easy way to fund, track, or reward contributions fairly and transparently. CodeCrew solves this by connecting GitHub with smart contracts, allowing maintainers to fund issues and contributors to earn crypto automatically when their pull requests are merged, turning open-source contributions into on-chain rewards.

Challenges we ran into

Syncing GitHub PRs and Issues with smart contracts in a trustless yet flexible way

Handling contributor claims and race conditions (e.g., multiple people working on the same issue)

Designing a clean UX that abstracts away blockchain complexity for developers

Managing wallet-GitHub identity linking without compromising user privacy

Building a GitHub App that reliably listens to webhooks and securely triggers on-chain actions
