About this project
Why are you participating for Based India?
As a developer excited about the future of blockchain, I see Base as a powerful and scalable platform for decentralized applications. I am participating to contribute to the Base ecosystem and help make it more interoperable with other networks. By building a cross-chain bridge, I aim to empower users with a more efficient and accessible experience for moving assets across chains.
What challenges are you focusing on?
One of the main challenges in the blockchain community is the fragmentation of different networks, making it difficult for users to seamlessly transfer assets across chains. Users are often stuck in isolated networks, which limits the full potential of decentralized finance and cross-chain interactions.
How does your submission address this challenge?
The Cross-chain Bridge facilitates smooth and efficient asset transfers between the Base network and Ethereum. By locking tokens in one network and releasing their equivalent on the other, the bridge enables interoperability between two different ecosystems. This will improve liquidity, enable more flexible usage of decentralized applications, and empower users to manage their assets without being limited by chain-specific constraints.
Challenges we ran into
One of the major technical challenges was ensuring the security of token transfers between different blockchains, as any vulnerabilities in the locking and releasing mechanisms could result in loss of funds. To overcome this, I implemented nonce-based transaction tracking to prevent double-spending attacks and ensured only authorized accounts can execute the release of tokens. Another challenge was ensuring a smooth user experience when connecting wallets and handling cross-chain transactions, which was addressed by leveraging MetaMask integration and Web3.js for easy interaction with the blockchain.
