Why are you participating for Based India?

Blockchain is a revolutionary technology that holds the promise of addressing a diverse array of societal challenges. Its potential extends across various industries, including decentralized finance (DeFi), gaming, healthcare, supply chain management, and many others. By harnessing the unique capabilities of blockchain—such as transparency, security, and decentralization—we can create solutions that empower individuals and communities worldwide. However, for blockchain technology to realize its full potential, it must reach billions of people without any barriers. Accessibility and inclusivity are paramount to ensuring that everyone can benefit from the advantages this technology offers. This is why we are participating in Base Chain India: to play our part in making blockchain technology accessible to everyone, regardless of their location or background. We aim to facilitate onboarding by developing user-friendly tools and platforms that simplify the process for new users, making it easy for anyone to engage with blockchain technology. we aspire to contribute to a more inclusive and equitable blockchain ecosystem, breaking down the barriers that hinder widespread adoption and ensuring that this transformative technology is within reach of everyone—creating a future where blockchain can truly make a difference in people’s lives around the globe.

What challenges are you focusing on?

Onboarding new users into blockchain applications remains one of the most significant barriers to achieving mass adoption of this transformative technology. Current wallet solutions typically require users to generate and securely store mnemonic phrases, which consist of a sequence of 12 or 24 words that serve as a recovery mechanism for their accounts. While this system effectively maintains decentralization and gives users control over their assets, it also introduces notable security risks. Users who lose or improperly store these mnemonic phrases may find themselves locked out of their accounts, permanently losing access to their funds.

Furthermore, managing these sensitive recovery phrases can be cumbersome, particularly for individuals who may not be well-versed in cybersecurity practices. The requirement to memorize or securely store mnemonic phrases places the entire burden of security on the users, creating a friction point that can discourage potential participants from engaging with blockchain technology.

To overcome these challenges, blockchain solutions must evolve to provide smoother, more user-friendly experiences. This includes abstracting away complex processes and offering intuitive interfaces that simplify the onboarding journey. Additionally, integrating familiar recovery methods—such as biometric authentication or social logins—can help users feel more comfortable and secure while managing their blockchain accounts.

Ultimately, making blockchain accessible to the everyday user is essential for unlocking its transformative potential and achieving mainstream adoption across various industries. By addressing the current pain points associated with user onboarding, we can create an inclusive ecosystem that invites individuals from all backgrounds to explore and benefit from the advantages of blockchain technology.

How does your submission address this challenge?

Baseway Wallet is dedicated to addressing the challenges of blockchain onboarding by leveraging account abstraction and passkeys. This innovative approach ensures a seamless and intuitive user experience, enabling users to set up their wallets with just a single click on their smartphones or laptops in Base chain. By eliminating the need for complex mnemonic phrases and private key management, users can effortlessly generate passkey credentials and create smart accounts, significantly simplifying the onboarding process and enhancing overall convenience.

Current Features of Baseway Wallet Web Version: The wallet is readily accessible through a web interface, ensuring cross-platform compatibility and eliminating the need for cumbersome installations. Users can access their wallets anytime, anywhere, enhancing convenience and usability.

Telegram Mini Wallet Integration: Baseway Wallet seamlessly integrates with Telegram’s Mini Apps, allowing users to access wallet functionalities directly within the familiar Telegram environment. This integration offers a lightweight, Web2-like experience, making it easier for new users to engage with blockchain applications without friction. Currently, this feature supports both Telegram desktop and web versions.

Baseway Wallet exemplifies how user-friendly design, combined with cutting-edge technologies like account abstraction and passkeys, can overcome the barriers to blockchain adoption. By streamlining the onboarding process and integrating with popular platforms, it ensures that even non-technical users can effortlessly interact with blockchain networks, paving the way for broader adoption across various industries.

Additionally, Baseway Wallet enhances usability by supporting any decentralized application (dApp) through WalletConnect integration. This feature allows users to interact with a wide range of dApps without requiring additional steps or modifications from developers.

Challenges we ran into

We have faced several challenges in our development process. One significant issue is the implementation of a custom paymaster and bundler, specifically tailored from the Eth Infinitum bundler to meet our unique requirements. For our system to function optimally, we need to deploy multiple components simultaneously; however, we currently lack the hosting capacity to accomplish this. As a result, we are utilizing the StackUp bundler in the interim.

We have developed custom solutions because we have specific plans for further integrations that depend on support from external parties. Until we receive that support, we decided to proceed with our own custom implementations to advance our development efforts.

Additionally, we have integrated Baseway Wallet with Telegram Mini Apps. However, we are encountering limitations as the Android version of Telegram Mini Apps does not support passkeys at this time; it currently only supports the Telegram desktop and web versions. This restriction poses a challenge for seamless user experience across different platforms, and we are actively exploring solutions to address this issue.

We are excited to introduce additional features that enhance the functionality and user experience of Baseway Wallet.

Web Login Support

Baseway Wallet now offers web login support that is directly integrated into the wallet, allowing users to access their accounts effortlessly through their web browsers. This feature simplifies the login process and provides a seamless experience for users who prefer to manage their wallets on larger screens.

Integration of Multiple Apps

Currently, when new users onboard to Web3, navigating through numerous decentralized applications (dApps) can be a daunting task. To address this, we are working on integrating multiple apps directly into the Baseway Wallet. This integration will enable users to access various services and functionalities within a single platform, streamlining their experience and eliminating the need to switch between different applications.

Simplified Fund Transfers

One of the exciting features we are planning is a user-friendly fund transfer system that allows users to send money to other accounts using mobile numbers, similar to the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) used in traditional finance. This feature will make transactions faster and more intuitive, reducing the friction often associated with sending funds in the blockchain space. By leveraging familiar methods, we aim to make blockchain transactions accessible to everyone, further enhancing the usability of Baseway Wallet.
