About this project
Why are you participating for Based India?
-Personal Experience with Paper Leaks: I experienced the severe issue of paper leaks myself , which negatively impacted my exam and many others. The scale of this problem in India is massive, with 65 major paper leaks reported since 2019 (as per India Today). -Desire to Solve a Critical National Problem: Paper leaks undermine the trust in the education system and allow corruption to flourish. This hackathon offers an opportunity to use blockchain to address this deeply ingrained issue. -Innovative Use of Blockchain: Blockchain technology, particularly BASE for its low gas fees, can bring transparency, accountability, and fairness to exams, something India desperately needs. -Contribution to a Trusted System: By participating, I aim to build a solution that eliminates the current issues of manual exam processes, creating a secure and tamper-proof system that benefits students and institutions alike.
What challenges are you focusing on?
-Exam Paper Leaks: A primary challenge is the frequent exam paper leaks, often caused by insecure printing processes, corruption and low trust in authorities. Students' futures are at risk when papers are leaked ahead of exams. -Cheating and Malpractice: There is rampant cheating during exams, enabled by corrupt officials, lenient examiners, and students using impersonators to take exams on their behalf. -Untrustworthy Results: Exam results become unreliable, as some students are unfairly given extra time or marks, while others have their answer sheets tampered with by examiners. -High Costs for Secure Exam Conducting: Traditional exam processes involve high logistical costs, including printing, distributing, and managing physical exam papers, which also increase the risk of security breaches.
How does your submission address this challenge?
- Blockchain for Exam Security: We are utilizing blockchain technology on BASE, known for its low gas fees, to create a secure, transparent, and immutable exam system. This eliminates the need for printed papers and ensures tamper-proof management of exams.
- Smart Contracts for Exam Management: 1.Wallet-Based Registration: Every student will register for their exams using a unique wallet address, ensuring that exam participation is tied to a verified individual. 2.AI Face Scanning for Identity Verification: Students will be required to undergo AI face scanning both during registration and before the exam starts, ensuring the registered student is the one taking the exam. This prevents impersonation fraud. 3.Paper Upload and Locking: Exam papers will be uploaded to the blockchain as a part of the smart contract process, with access locked until the scheduled exam date. No one, not even high authorities, will be able to alter the paper once uploaded. 4.Time-Controlled Access: Only students with registered wallets can access the exam at the predetermined time and question paper, preventing early access or unauthorized changes. 5.Auto Submission: Smart contracts will enforce exam end times, automatically submitting answers and preventing further tampering with completed exams. 6.On-Chain Answer Sheets and Results: For exams with multiple-choice questions (MCQs), students' answers will be stored on the blockchain, ensuring no examiner or authority can alter the results after submission. This builds trust in the grading process. By addressing these issues, we can make exam processes in India more secure, transparent, and trustworthy.
Challenges we ran into
Late Participation in the Hackathon -Challenge: Joining the Based India hackathon late restricted my time to create a working demo, which was essential for effectively presenting my project. -Solution: I concentrated on developing the project's core components and writing the basic code that could be tested on the blockchain. Additionally, I focused on clearly explaining the specific problems we aimed to solve and the potential outcomes. This approach allowed me to highlight the fundamental aspects of the solution, even without a complete demo.
Additional Features
Solving real-life problems is, in my opinion, the best way to contribute to our country and humanity.
